The Vice-Chancellor
A.M.U., Aligarh

Dear Sir,

In a meeting of the Action Committee held today at 3:00 P.M. it was decided to reiterate our resolve to enforce non-participation of University teachers in the admission tests/examinations if students are not allowed entry into their hostel rooms by May 9, 2011. A copy of our resolution read out by the Hony. Secretary to the Vice-Chancellor on May 5, 2011 and sent to him the same evening is enclosed.

The meeting also expressed its resentment at the purported statement of SP (City) published in the press about the character of Azamgarh. We condemn the statement and demand that the officer should immediately be removed from Aligarh and warned not to issue such defamatory and malicious statements in future. The fact that the University Proctor is taking the help of such an officer in his search operations is also condemned.

There was unanimity that the Vice-Chancellor seems to have forgotten that our main demands included the institution of an enquiry into the incident leading to the closure notice by the Registrar. The enquiry was to include the Hony. Secretary of the Association as one of the members. The action of the University by filing FIRs and expelling students shall vitiate the enquiry as any such action should follow an enquiry. Another main demand was the removal of the Proctor forthwith, a copy of our resolution dated May 1, 2011 is enclosed for your perusal.

We hope that you would respond soon, and respond positively.

            With regards,

Sincerely yours,

(S. Mustafa Zaidi)

Enclosure:  As above
