A meeting of the Executive Committee of the AMUTA was held today i.e.  Tuesday, May 3,2011, at 11:30 AM to take stock of the situation of the ongoing dharna  and the further course of Action. The following decisions were taken and resolution passed unanimously:

This meeting of the Executive Committee of the AMUTA condemns, in the strongest possible terms, the statement of the University Proctor alleging the presence of arms in the University hostels. Such a statement by such an officer can only lead to two conclusions--- either we are all mad or we are all criminals that we allowed this to happen right under our noses.. A similar allegation made yesterday by the VC during our meeting had immediately been questioned, when we challenged him to prove his allegations, he had then refrained from saying anything further This attempt by the VC and his administration to cover up their failure by resorting to falsehood and propaganda is reprehensible and requires strong disciplinary action against the VC, on the part of the Congress led UPA Government at the Centre.

The meeting also views with serious concern and condemns the statement issued by the University spokesperson that internal students shall not be allowed entry into the hostels even during competitive examinations. Then where shall our students prepare for the competition and how would they find food and shelter/ why are they being punished so severely for a crime they did not commit except being in the University, therefore we demand that the students should be allowed full facilities during the admission test process.

Moreover the statement also gives the lie to the statement of the VC that the University shall be opened as soon as possible, because the admission test schedule carries over to July 2011. We therefore decide to call an extended consultative meeting tomorrow to be followed by a GB meeting the next day which may discuss some new proposals for fulfillment of our demands such as marching to the VC office /lodge, meeting political party leaders, meeting the PM and requesting the Visitor to intervene, boycotting admission tests till such time that the University is reopened  and the students allowed back in.
